Compressed Air Flow Meter
Compressed Air Vortex Build
Accuracy of ±1.0% volumetric
Temperature service −40 to +85 °C
Turndown ratio of 1:70
- Line sizes DN25 to DN400
- Flange ratings PN16 to PN40 (ANSI 150 to 300 LB)
- Body materials 316L stainless

The Compressed Air Vortex Flow Meter measures factory compressed-air mains, branch sub-meters, and leak-attribution loops. Built-in T+P compensation outputs Nm³/h FAD directly on the 4-20 mA loop.
316L stainless wetted parts handle the standard ISO 8573-1 Class 4 range. For tight-skid installs, the wafer or LUXB swirl version offers a 3D+2D straight-pipe footprint.
Benefits
- Accuracy: standard LUGB ±1.0 % volumetric; P-compensated ±1.5 % on Nm³/h; LUGB-VRd ±0.5 % at 1:70 turndown.
- 1:70 turndown for leak detection: VRd resolves overnight idle flow below 1:15 range; defensible leak-audit payback.
- 2024 award: LUGB-VRd; China Instrument Society Top-10 New Product (patented isolated bluff-body).
- Optional P/T compensation: option codes P (pressure) and T (temperature) deliver Nm³/h on the 4-20 mA loop.
- Hazardous-area certification: CNEX Ex d IIC T6 Gb optional; IP65 + EMC 2014/30/EU standard.
- Wafer sandwich-mount: DN15–DN100 wafer sandwich-bolts between flanges; no welding, no hot work, no shutdown beyond branch isolation.
- Lead time: 5–7 business days from factory.

Where compressed-air flow measurement pays off
Plant Air Audit
Total system flow during production and off-shift. Typical DN50 pays back in 6 months from leak repair.
Leak Detection
Weekend/off-shift flow as the baseline. Permanent metering trends leak rate, drives targeted maintenance.
Sub-Metering & Billing
P-compensated Nm³/h for compressor cost allocation. Reference volume keeps billed quantity consistent across pressure swings.
Paint Booths & Tools
Finishing lines, assembly tooling, pneumatic systems. Modbus to PLC/SCADA flags filter fouling via flow-drop alarms.

Installation
Five rules to hit rated accuracy.
- Respect the straight-pipe run ≥15× DN up / 5× DN down. Upstream elbows/valves/reducers add; see table.
- Orient horizontally, display up Horizontal default; electronics on top to avoid condensate pooling. Vertical OK if flow always upward.
- Drain point upstream Auto-drain trap at upstream low point; liquid slugs trigger spurious pulses.
- Keep regulators/valves downstream Pressure regulators and control valves generate turbulence; place downstream of meter.
- Ground the meter housing ≤100 mΩ ground. Static on dry-air piping shifts piezoelectric baseline.
