Multi-Path Ultrasonic Flow Meter (2-Channel)
2-Channel Path-Averaged Precision, DN25 to DN5000
±0.5 % at 0.5 to 5 m/s, repeatability 0.15 %
Integral inline or split-body wall-mount
Modbus RTU, 4-20 mA, OCT pulse, relay
- Two paths cancel velocity-profile asymmetry from a single upstream elbow or reducer.
- Optional PT100 supply + return pair turns the same body into a kWh / MJ / BTU heat meter.
- 24 V DC, 3-5 W. IP54 transmitter, IP68 wetted transducer.

The Multi-Path Ultrasonic Flow Meter is a 2-channel transit-time instrument for liquid service, DN25 to DN5000. Two paths average out velocity-profile asymmetry from upstream elbows. Accuracy ±0.5 % at 0.5 to 5 m/s, repeatability 0.15 %. C8 inline or W8 split-body wall-mount. Optional PT100 pair for kWh / MJ / BTU output. Modbus RTU, 4-20 mA, OCT pulse. 24 V DC. 5 to 7 business days from the factory.
Benefits
- Path averaging cancels asymmetry. Two paths sample two parts of the flow profile; bias from a single elbow or reducer averages out. A single-path meter sees the same disturbance as unrecoverable bias.
- ±0.5 % across DN25 to DN5000. Velocity range 0.5 to 5 m/s. Linearity ±0.5 %, repeatability 0.15 %. Holds across the full DN range, not just process bore.
- One model, two install styles. C8 integral inline for clean plant-room runs; W8 split-body wall-mount with remote transmitter for hot or vibration-heavy installs. Same configurator.
- Optional PT100 pair returns kWh / MJ / BTU. Same transmitter, two PT100 inputs, on-board calorimetry. Suits district-heat substation primary and large-bore HVAC tenant chargeback.
- Modbus RTU + 4-20 mA + OCT pulse + relay. 24 V DC, 3-5 W. Response time 500 ms. Pre-configured slave address ships with each meter.

Applications
Utility trunk-main allocation
Water-utility distribution measurement, DN1000 to DN5000. Path averaging holds ±0.5 % where a single path under-samples the large-bore profile. Calibration record ships with each meter.
Asymmetric-profile retrofit
Plant-room and substation installs with short straight-pipe between elbows. The 2-path average absorbs the asymmetry that biases a single-path meter, fitting tighter footprints.
District-heat substation (with BTU)
Substation primary entry with the optional PT100 pair. Same body returns kWh / MJ / BTU on Modbus. Suits 40 to 90 K primary delta-T.
New-construction precision
EPC new-build at DN50 to DN300 calling for ±0.5 % volumetric without going to 4-path or Coriolis cost. Water, aqueous solution, or chemical reagent.

Installation rules.
Five rules keep path averaging accurate.
- 5D upstream, 3D downstream straight-pipe. Path averaging absorbs a single elbow at the upstream limit. Hold 10D after pumps or out-of-plane double elbows.
- Orient the chord planes 45 deg to the elbow plane. The two chords then bracket the asymmetric profile symmetrically and the average converges fastest.
- Pipe must stay 100 % liquid-filled. Air pockets falsify the transit-time signal on both paths. Closed loops need an air vent upstream of the meter.
- Mount W8 transmitter on a stable wall, −40 to +60 deg C ambient. IP54 housing; plant room, not outdoor submerged service.
- Configure register map and slave address at commissioning. Factory pre-configures from BMS or DCS spec. Record both in the commissioning log.
