Transducer codes; twelve clamp-on options

Standard clamp-on covers -30 to +90 deg C medium temperature; -HT suffix versions extend to -30 to +160 deg C for high-temperature service (boiler condensate, district-heat primary, RTO scrubber circulation). Bracket-mount HS / HM / EB-1 improves coupling stability on coated, scaled, or irregular host-pipe surfaces.

Field-service procedure

  1. Identify the longest straight pipe run. 10D upstream, 5D downstream, 30D after a pump or valve.
  2. Verify the pipe is 100 % liquid-filled. Air pockets falsify the transit-time signal; the SD log flags low signal quality.
  3. Apply coupling gel after wiping paint, rust, scale, and insulation from the transducer footprint. Secure with stainless straps. For coated pipes, switch to HS / HM / EB-1 bracket-mount.
  4. Run a battery check before each visit. LCD shows state-of-charge; carry a spare pack on multi-day campaigns. Dock recharges overnight from any mains outlet.
  5. Pull the SD card after the visit. The 2 GB card holds ~30 days of 1-second logging; import records into Excel or pandas.

Frequently asked questions

Portable vs clamp-on fixed; which one?+
Same transit-time physics and same transducer family; form factor and application differ. Portable: IP67 carry case for spot checks, commissioning, audits, and contractor visits; 20-hour battery, 2 GB SD card log. Clamp-on fixed: wall-mount transmitter for 24/7 SCADA-integrated measurement on one pipe. Many buyers purchase both.
How many transducer codes, and which one fits my pipe?+
Twelve codes cover DN15 to DN6000. Three standard clamp-on: TS-2 (DN15–DN100, −30 to +90 °C), TM-1 (DN50–DN700), TL-1 (DN300–DN6000). Three -HT versions extend to +160 °C. Three bracket-mount (HS / HM / EB-1) for coated or scaled pipes, plus three HT bracket versions. Specify per pipe size and temperature at order.
Can the portable return BTU calorimetry?+
Yes. The PT100 input pairs with the CT-1 clamp-on sensor (DN50, 100 ohm class 0.8, −40 to +160 °C). Pair the sensors on supply and return; the firmware solves the energy integral and outputs kWh, kJ, or BTU on the display and SD card. Standard pattern for HVAC chilled-water audit and district-heat verification.
What output signals integrate with field DAQ?+
Three 4-20 mA outputs at 0.1 % accuracy (flow, totalizer, configurable third channel). RS-485 Modbus RTU for LabVIEW or Python pymodbus. OCT pulse 6 to 1000 ms for PLC counters. The SD card removes the need for tethered DAQ on most audit walks.
Lead time and what is in the carry case?+
5 to 7 business days from the factory. The kit ships with the IP67 case (transmitter plus 8 Ni-MH cells), the specified transducer pair, coupling gel, stainless straps, 30 m signal cable, AC 90-260 V charging dock, 2 GB SD card, ISO 9001 calibration certificate, and EMC 2014/30/EU certificate. CT-1 PT100 pair is an order-add option; Ex is buyer-arranged.
