Quick-Install Ultrasonic Flow Meter

The Quick-Install Ultrasonic Flow Meter is a transit-time instrument for small-pipe service DN15 to DN32. The meter mounts on the host pipe outer surface in an integrated clamp body sized to OD 20, 25, 32, or 40 mm; no pipe cut, no weld, no shutdown. ±1.0 % of reading at 0.3 to 5 m/s; repeatability 0.4 %. 1.54-inch IPS LCD. Modbus RTU, 4-20 mA, OCT pulse. IP66 wet-service tolerance. 24 V DC, 3 W. 5–7 business days.

Benefits

  • Outer-mount non-weld retrofit. Integrated clamp body bolts around the host pipe with two screws. No pipe cut, no weld, no shutdown. ~30 minutes per meter, field installer needs the OD-matched clamp.
  • Pre-aligned transducer spacing per OD. Each clamp body holds the transducer pair at the specified spacing for the matched host OD. No field-spacing measurement, no acoustic-coupling calibration.
  • DN15 to DN32 small-pipe slot. Residential entry, commercial sub-utility branch, lab dosing, OEM small-loop. Outside DN15-DN32, go to the compact clamp-on family (DN6-DN200) or the inline counterparts.
  • IP66 wet-service tolerance. Tolerates direct water jets and chemical splash; survives residential pits, commercial sub-meter chambers, lab cabinets that get wash-down.
  • 1.54-inch IPS LCD 240 x 240. 4-direction rotation. Modbus RTU + 4-20 mA + OCT pulse. Optional 30 V DC at 1 A relay. 24 V DC, 3 W. 5–7 business days from the factory.

Installation rules.

  1. Confirm host-pipe OD before order. Four sizes only; OD 20 / 25 / 32 / 40 mm. Outside these, go to the compact clamp-on family.
  2. 10D upstream, 5D downstream straight-pipe (D = host-pipe diameter). Short runs degrade accuracy below the ±1.0 % spec.
  3. Bolt the clamp body around the host pipe and torque per spec. Even torque on both screws keeps transducer alignment; the integrated coupling layer mates against the pipe wall.
  4. Verify 100 % pipe-fill at commissioning. Air pockets falsify the signal. Mount horizontal or vertical-upward.
  5. Configure Modbus register and slave address at commissioning. Factory pre-configures from BMS or DCS spec; record both in the commissioning log.

Frequently asked questions

How does this meter mount on a small pipe without cutting it?+
The transducer pair sits in a clamp body that bolts around the host pipe outer surface. The clamp tightens with two screws against the OD; the transducer faces mate against the pipe wall through a coupling layer. No pipe cut, no weld, no shutdown. The host pipe needs to be one of four OD sizes; OD 20, OD 25, OD 32, or OD 40 mm; which maps to DN15, DN20, DN25, or DN32 nominal bore. Install time is roughly 30 minutes per meter; field installer needs the OD-matched clamp body and the specified torque value.
What is the difference between quick-install and external clamp-on?+
External clamp-on uses a separate transducer pair held to the host pipe with stainless straps and coupling gel; transducer spacing follows a spacing table per DN. Quick-install uses an integrated clamp body sized to the host OD; the transducers are pre-aligned inside the clamp at the specified spacing. Quick-install removes the field-spacing measurement step but only fits four OD sizes (OD 20 / 25 / 32 / 40). Outside those four sizes, go to the compact or full-size clamp-on family.
Why does this model run on the higher IP66 housing?+
Small-pipe service often lives in residential entry chambers, commercial sub-meter pits, lab cabinets that get wash-down, and dosing skids that see chemical splash. The IP66 housing tolerates direct water jets and chemical splatter without ingress, so the meter survives field conditions that would damage IP54 or IP65 transmitters. The trade-off is a slightly thicker enclosure and a higher unit price than the compact clamp-on family at IP54-IP65.
What is the velocity range, and where does the accuracy range start to relax?+
Operating velocity range is 0.1 to 10 m/s. The accuracy spec of ±1.0 % of reading holds at 0.3 to 5 m/s. Below 0.3 m/s the transit-time difference signal approaches the sensor noise floor and accuracy relaxes to ±2.0 %. Above 5 m/s the linearity rolls off slightly and accuracy relaxes to ±2.0 % up to the 10 m/s ceiling. Repeatability stays at 0.4 % of span across the full operating range.
What ships in the package and what is the lead time?+
The package ships with the integrated transducer-and-clamp body sized to the specified OD, the transmitter with 1.54-inch IPS LCD, signal cable (length factory-set per order), a pre-applied coupling layer at the transducer face, the calibration record (serial number + tested flow range), and a pre-configured Modbus register map and slave address. Lead time is 5 to 7 business days from the factory; ISO 9001 calibration certificate ships standard.
